Thabo Mbhele has demonstrated his mastery with sculpting an impressive lion sculptures to be the mascot for our ‘The Pride of Africa’ exhibition.

Jabu Nene came back to work a week early this year to start painting the lion in all its glory, demonstrating her dedication and love for Ardmore and the pride she has for painting. The colour of a lion’s mane is linked to its prowess, vigour and testosterone and the darker the mane, the more attractive he is to females. Jabu has accentuated the dark mane showing his strength.

Jabu has chosen to design a floral star-like patterns on the lion, symbolizing a life-force as well as an intricate spinal motif.
