Elephant Urns

These Elephant lidded urns were created by Thabo Mbhele and painted by Zinhle Nene. This year, 2017 the UK wallpaper company, Cole and Son launched the Ardmore Collection, and to celebrate this, we have created a few works to honour our collaboration with them. Our Ardmore painters and Fée were excited to see their own designs in a more pastel and simplified colour way, so they were challenged to paint ‘Safari Dance’ that features our dancing elephants in a soft charcoal, sand and stone colourway. Zinhle Nene has drawn and painted the ’Safari Dance’ Elephants with their trunks intertwined. Her soft greys, blacks and a touch of orange in the elephants’ toes has given them a sophisticated touch. Zinhle Nene has an incredible talent for intricate design, and we love how she has echoed her hexagonal, star-like pattern from her elephants, on the rims and base of the urns. We also love her bold, striped design in the elephants’ ears. There is a wonderful balance of power and subtleness in these jubilant urns fit for the more conservative home owner.
