Elephant Giraffe & Rhino Vase

  • MN67DEC

Elephant, Giraffe & Rhino Vase Zulu sculptor Thulani Mntungwa enjoys hand-coiling clay. His statuesque giraffe and rhino vessel has an art nouveau feel. It organically curls up into a balloon shape at the top and one can appreciate Thulani's journey of discovery as he allows the clay to unravel in his hand, taking a form that is unique to the sculptor’s elegant style. Painter Mandla Ngwenya’s intricate work compliments the overall elegance of the piece. One senses the pure enjoyment from both artists as their piece takes on a life of its own; its stature and presence mirroring that of the animals it portrays.
